Golds Lawyers Agree To Court InjunctionLawyers for the 2006 World Series of Poker winner Jamie Gold have agreed to a court injunction freezing $6 million of his $12 million prize. The court order came in light of a dispute about a deal that Gold allegedly made to split the prize money. According to plaintiff Bruce Crispin Leyser's lawyer Richard Schonfeld, US District Court Judge Roger L. Hunt was expected to sign the orders soon. "Everybody agreed the preliminary injunction would be issued," Schonfeld said Tuesday. The injunction would prevent the prize money from leaving the Rio Hotel-Casino, the tournament's host, until the case concluded. Lawyers for Gold will have until Sept. 15 to challenge the injunction. Leyser claims that him and Gold have struck up a bargain prior to the WSOP where he would supply celebrities to the event in return for half of whatever winnings Gold may have. Leyser claims that Gold has failed to honor his end of the agreement, after he delivered with Matthew Lilland and Dax Shepard playing at the Main Event wearing Bodog's label. Bodog who paid for the $10,000 entry fee for Gold, said that it was not aware of "of any side deal he may have made." |
